Improve your speed on the pitch

Sprint training

I benefit from extensive experience in working with sportsmen’s speed.

Since starting my athletics career with the Danish athletics team in 1997, I’ve helped a number of different sportsmen increase their speed. In addition to my knowledge of athletics, I’ve also acquired additional knowledge in my capacity as the sprint technique responsible person on the Danish bobsleigh team where the athletes were drawn from a range of different disciplines.

When I train football players and help them improve their speed on the pitch, I draw on my 18 years of experience as a football player. A football player makes a lot of movements that a sprinter doesn’t.

Your need for different types of speed is determined by which position you play.

A typical training session:
Warm up
speed tests with electronic measurement equipment
technical sprint training
evaluation

I perform video analysis of the training and provide advice as to relevant future exercises.

Amongst others I have trained:

Silkeborg IF (Superliga)
Skive IK (Danish first division)
Youth players from:
FC Midtjylland
Aab
Vejle Boldklub

Speed in football

If you want to be a good football player you have to master a lot of disciplines on the pitch. Surveys have shown that speed is the single most important factor for footballers. So, whether you’re a forward, a midfielder or a defender, you need speed.

It’s important that you run as efficiently as possible. This helps you run faster. Whether or not you’re a fast runner, if you can improve 2-3 metres in a sprint duel you can achieve still greater success on the pitch.

Traditionally, sprinting is an integral part of football training and training almost always takes place as a group with the rest of the team. This is fine when it comes to physiological development, but it doesn’t provide the sprint technique development that you need.

Individual sprint training doesn’t just make you fitter, it also, and this is what really makes a difference, improves your sprint technique, and thereby your speed.

This is how to make an agreement:

1. Record a video of yourself sprinting. The recording should show you from the front, from behind and from the side. Mobile phone recordings are fine. Send your video to me at

2. I then watch the video and analyse your sprinting technique and how it can best be improved.

3. We agree a date for our first training session.

... and you’re already well on your way to being quicker.
